Welcome week four….I was ready for you, but alas….in true procrastinator form I started my projects on Tuesday night. Apparently I work best under pressure….ya, let’s go with that.
I have absolutely loved watching the other designers, bloggers, and DIY enthusiasts progress with their rooms…it’s nice to know that I am not the only one that has home maintenance mishaps, DIY fails, well thought out plans that just look miserable and unplanned chicken funerals….oh wait, I think that last one might have only happened to me.
Let’s dive right in….
after staring at my pinboard all week, I came to the conclusion that it looked like I was being stingy with the tacks…ok truth is I wasn’t really prepared and ran out of tacks…oops. So I added some more this week…so. much. better.
See that sneak peek of my kidlets in the photo above? I had a last minute idea to add some bold frames…and by bold I mean black because bold to me does not usually involve color.
A bold design element placed where the wall and ceiling meet give the illusion of height. So while one thing I will never be able to makeover is our ceiling height…I can at least fake it. Now I get to look at these cuties every day, wait, I get the live version hanging all over me 24/7….well still, they’re keepers.
And this one can stick around too…..
Confession….I have over a dozen chalkboards around my house, love ’em. Can’t get enough of ’em. This probably won’t be my last one either. It’s just so practical…I mean, a wall that you can write on? Pure awesome.
I am just going to own it…I haven’t washed my hair in several days and I am pretty sure I wore that sweatshirt to bed last night but who wouldn’t want to look at themselves while they work…I know I do. Oh wait, the mirror…let’s focus on the mirror. Another departure from my original design plan but I love it…so do my kids, I have cleaned it fourteen times already. It’s a Target score…not a total steal of a deal but it was a perfect fit. Try not to focus on all the beige, beige, and beige out in the entryway….yikes.
I don’t know about you but I need a clock in every room of the house….it’s just good sense. So I moved this one from it’s original location on the gallery wall of unused items that used to live behind the desk. Lovely.
Magnet boards…..a great invention, I love them almost as much as chalkboards. A perfect spot for school pics, thoughtful notes, and pictures of weird stick figures with arms coming out of their heads….not that I have any of those, but if I did they would look great on here. And another zero dollar update….these also came from my old gallery wall.
My biggest project for the week was getting up shelves behind the sewing table…so it makes perfect sense that I ran to IKEA yesterday morning, not even knowing exactly what I wanted. I decided on the shelves that match my stainless steel table…so happy with my choice.
Suddenly I really want to sew something…while looking at myself in my new mirror.
I can’t tell you how much I have loved being a part of this challenge, love browsing through everyone’s updates, love all the comments, love being kept on a schedule, love it all! I especially love the “behind the scenes” shots from all the Instagram feeds….I would love to see yours too so come be my friend on IG
See all you peeps next week….where I will perhaps have my new chandelier shades to show off….eeks!
